Route 9: Ninth Street

This post explains the proposed Route 9. There are some moderate changes with this route which are outlined below.

This route leaves the transit center as it currently does. The attached map shows the route using Ashland to 9th Street. In fact, this route will outbound and inbound using Broadway.

After leaving Broadway via Clinton, this bus will head south on Ashland to 9th Street. The route will head east on 9th Street. The route will no longer service the Green Bay Plaza shopping center. It will continue east along West Point. Service to MacArthur Elementary will no longer be provided as well as he route deviation to Biemeret Street in the mornings and afternoons. The route will complete the South Point-Hazlewood-Wood loop as it does now and begin the inbound trip.

On the inbound trip, the route travels directly from 9th Street to Ashland and return back to the transit center the same way as it left downtown on the outbound trip.

Route 15: De Pere/Ashwaubenon

This route replaces the current Route 15: Libal/De Pere route.

The current route 15 has been a poor performing route in comparison to the rest of the fixed routes.

As part of the restructure and growth and development in De Pere, we attempted to develop a route to better service west De Pere. The goal was to service St. Norbert College, the west side business park, the Wal-Mart shopping area, and provide service from De Pere to Ashwaubenon.

It should be noted this bus will only depart from the transit center once in the morning and return once at the end of the day. This route will operate in De Pere and Ashwaubenon at all other times.

On the east side of De Pere, this route will begin at the corner of George and S. Erie Street. The route will head south on S. Erie Street and take a right on Cook Street. The route will head west to Broadway and turn north on Broadway. At the roundabout, the route will cross the bridge and head west on Main Street.

The route will take a left at Main and 9th Street and head south to Scheuring Road. The route will then head west along Scheuring to American Blvd. and head south. The route will head south until it readhes Employers Blvd. and service the Humana Complex. After Humana, the route will head north on Lawrence Drive, cross Scheuring Road and service the Wal-Mart Supercenter complex and exit back onto Scheuring Road, heading west.

The route will enter Highway 41 and head north to Ashwaubenon, exiting on Oneida Street. The route will head north on Oneida Street to Willard Drive. Once on Willard, the route will head to San Luis Place and head north, providing service to Target. The route will then head east on Cormier back to Oneida to begin the inbound service to De Pere.

This route will provide hourly service.

Routes 3 & 4

With the elimination of Route 10: Velp and the on-time performance issues surrounding Route 4: Shawno, the current Route 3: Mather and Route 4: Shawno have been realigned to provide access to the northwestern portion of Green Bay.

Conceptually, the two routes are separate but become linked. Thus, the outbound #4 once it reaches the end of the line becomes the inbound #3 and vice-versa for the outbound #3. The route is bi-directional, thus, there are two buses providing service on these routes. However, it should be noted that this is scheduled one-hour service to complete the total loop.

The bus will leave the transit center as it is currently operated. As it heads west on Shawano, it will turn left on Perkins Avenue and service the Badger Lane neighborhood. Upon reaching Siegler Street, the bus will return to Shawno Avenue and continue west. The bus will then head north on Taylor Street and turn right onto Dousman Street and head east. After servicing the ASPIRO on Dousman Street, the route will become the inbound #3 and head towards Military Avenue.

Upon reaching Military Avenue, the route will head north and then head west on Bond Street to service the ASPIRO on Stiles Road. The bus will then return to Military Avenue and turn right onto Moraine Way. The bus will head east until reaching Locust where it will turn right and head south on Locust. The bus will turn left at Desnoyers Street and head east Gray Street. The bus will head south on Gray to Mather, turn left, and continue east along Mather Street until reaching Broadway. At this point, the bus will return downtown as it is currently designed.

The outbound Route 3: Mather travels the reverse of this route.

Route 11: Allouez/De Pere

This route continues to serve the Green Bay, Allouez, and De Pere communities. This route changes once it reaches De Pere.


The route leaves the transit center and heads south on Webster. This bus continues south until it reaches De Pere and then heads west on George Street, crossing the bridge and continuing west along Main Street.



The bus will service the Festival Foods area and turn left and head south on Lawrence Drive. The bus will travel on Lawrence Drive until Grant Street. The bus will head east on Grant Street to Lost Dauphin Road. The bus will head north on Lost Dauphin Road back to Main Street, cross the bridge and head east on George to Webster Avenue. At this point, the bus will inbound to the transit center along the same path as the outbound bus.

Route 12: Green Bay/Ashwaubenon

The Green Bay portion of this route is unchanged. However, the route changes once it reaches Target at the corner of Ridge Road and Cormier.

The Cormier - Shady Lane - Carole Lane loop of the existing Route 12 has been eliminated. The reason for the elimination is due to low ridership and on-time performance issues.

On the proposed route, once the bus reaches Target it will head east on Cormier to Oneida Street. The route will then head south on Oneida Street servicing the retail section of Ashwaubenon. Upon reaching Hansen Road, the route will head west. The route will terminate at the Viking Drive area, turn around and become the inbound bus. The inbound route will follow the same route as the outbound and return downtown.

This route is currently one hour long and will remain the so in this proposal.

Route 14: East Green Bay/Bellevue

This post will outline the proposed Route 14. This route is substantially different from the current Route 14: Edison.

The proposed Route 14 picks up portions of the former Route 2, Route 7, and Route 14. This route begins at the Transit Center and terminates in Bellevue at the Target/Copps located at the corner of Lime Kiln and Allouez Avenue in Bellevue.

This route is one hour long and is provided with one bus. The trip from downtown to Target is 30 minutes long and the return trip is another 30 minutes.

The route leaves the transit center and travels east along University. The route takes a left turn at Irwin and heads north to Eastman. The route then travels along Eastman to Elizabeth and heads north. The route turns east onto Cofrin Dr. servicing the Post Office. The route then heads to Danz and heads south. The route services Preble High and takes Newberry to Bader and turns south heading towards East Mason. The bus heads west on East Mason turning left onto Lime Kiln Road.

The bus heads south on Lime Kiln Road to Verlin Road. The route heads west on Verlin Road to Bellevue St. The bus then heads south on Bellevue to Allouez Avenue. The bus then heads east terminating at the Target/Copps center at the corner of Lime Kiln and Allouez Avenue. The bus turns around and heads back along the same route towards downtown.

Route 6: West Mason

This route has minor revisions as compared to the existing Route 6. The minor revisions made are to allow the bus to still service existing locations as well as improve on-time performance.

Route 6 is an hour long route serviced by two buses, effectively providing 30-minute service along the West Mason corridor.

Route 6 leaves downtown and travels the existing route. Upon reaching Mason and Military Avenue, the bus will no longer enter the Green Bay Plaza shopping center. It will stop at the corner then turn onto Military and head north to Western Avenue.

The next change in this route occurs at the NWTC campus. The bus will no longer travel around campus, but it will make one stop at the student center and then head out of campus along it does currently.

After leaving NWTC, the bus will head east on West Mason to Isbell Street and enter the Wal-Mart/Sam's Club area. This will provide inbound service to this location as well as Festival Foods. After servicing Festival Foods, the route continues along Lambeau Street until it reaches Larsen Road. The bus will head east on Larsen Road completing the inbound leg on Western and Military. Upon returning to West Mason, the bus will stop in front of the Green Bay Plaza shopping center. The route will then continue downtown as it does in its current configuration.

Route 16: Oneida Gaming-Ashwaubenon

There are no changes planned for this route. It will be operated as it is currently designed.

Route 10: Velp

This route is scheduled to be eliminated. The productive portions of this route are overlapped by the Route 3: Mather bus.

Service to ASPIRO will be provided by the revised Route 3 and Route 4.

Route 8: Monroe

This route is schedule for elimination. Due to the coverages provided by other routes, as well as the traditionally low ridership numbers, the resources used to operate this route will be reallocated to other route services

Route 5: Downtown-Bay Beach

There are no changes proposed to this route. It will continue to operate as it is currently designed.

Route 2: Main Street

The revised Route 2: Main Street will vary from its current configuration. The proposed route travels from the transit center south on Main Street ending at Wal-Mart. This route is designed for 30-minute service, 15-minutes outbound and another 15-minutes inbound. This route will be serviced by one bus.

The current route segments from Deckner Avenue to Bader Street and south on Bader Street to East Mason have been eliminated. Portions of this eliminated segment can be found on the revised Route 14, which will be discussed in a later post.

The outbound route will leave the transit center and head south on Webster Avenue to Main Street. The route will travel south on Main Street and terminate at Wal-Mart.

The inbound bus will leave Wal-Mart, service the East Town Mall (Cub Foods Area), and then head north again on Main Street travelling back towards the transit center. It should be noted this revised route does not service the K-Mart directly as it does now.

It is our desire this route provide more direct and convenient access to Wal-Mart and the Cub Foods Area of East Town Mall than is currently provided.

Route 1: East Mason

The revised Route 1: East Mason will change from its current format. This proposed route is intended to travel along East Mason, service the I-43 Industrial Park and Aurora Medical Center and then return downtown.

This proposed route is one hour long with two buses effectively delivering 30-minute service from downtown to Aurora; and from Aurora to downtown. This proposal takes part of the current Route 14: Edison and matches it with Route 1. The revised Route 14 will be discussed in another post.

Route 1 outbound will leave the transit center and travel south on Monroe then head east along East Mason Street. The bus will travel into the East Town Mall, but only along the perimeter access road. The bus will then continue east along East Mason Street to the I-43 Industrial Park. The route will enter the park on Challenger Drive and proceed along a counter-clockwise route along Voyager-Keppler Drive before terminating at Aurora BayCare Medical Center.

The Inbound Route 1 will depart Aurora and continue in a counter-clockwise direction along Walker Drive, turning left onto Lowell Drive and heading east towards Discovery Road. The bus will travel north on Discovery to Voyager, turning left on Voyager and exiting the business park on Challenger Drive. The route will inbound, stopping once again at the East Town Mall perimeter access road, and then head west on East Mason back to Monroe Avenue. The route will travel north along Monroe before terminating at the Transit Center.

It is our desire that the new Route 1 will provide enhanced opportunity for shopping and access to medical and employment opportunities along East Mason and the I-43 Industrial Park. Please provide your thoughts on this revised route.
