NEWS RELEASE

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PACKERS, GREEN BAY METRO, CITY OF GREEN BAY TO OFFER

NEW GAMEDAY BUS SERVICE

The Green Bay Packers, Green Bay Metro and the city of Green Bay will be teaming up to offer four free bus routes on gamedays for the 2011 season, it was announced today.

The four service routes were designed to reach Green Bay’s major key routes and fan-heavy areas during Packers home games. Buses will run five hours before each game and three hours after. Extended hours will be provided during night games.

“We are very excited and honored to partner with the Packers and the city of Green Bay to make this service happen,” Green Bay Metro director Tom Wittig said. “We have put a lot of hard work into this project and I am thankful for all the time and dedication from my staff and the Packers.”

Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy also expressed his excitement for the partnership.

“On behalf of the Packers, we are really excited to partner with Green Bay Metro as well as the city of Green Bay to provide this service,” Murphy said. “We are the only NFL stadium that currently does not have any public transportation to and from the stadium on gamedays so we think this will be a great addition and believe our fans will enjoy it.”

In addition to providing a free and safe ride to and from Lambeau Field for fans, Metro hopes the new service will encourage more residents of the community to use the transit system on a regular basis.

“This is a great step for transit and we are really excited to see it take off,” Mayor Jim Schmitt said. “It is our hope that more people start to use the metro system and we believe these routes will help make that happen.”

Each route is titled with a Packers theme including Lambeau Leap, Cheesehead, QB Sneak and Quick Slant. Major key areas on routes include the Radisson and Austin Straubel Airport, Green Bay hotels, residential areas and the metro area.

Additionally, gameday service routes will be available for both those attending the game as well as those who are not.
