Route 6: West Mason

This route has minor revisions as compared to the existing Route 6. The minor revisions made are to allow the bus to still service existing locations as well as improve on-time performance.

Route 6 is an hour long route serviced by two buses, effectively providing 30-minute service along the West Mason corridor.

Route 6 leaves downtown and travels the existing route. Upon reaching Mason and Military Avenue, the bus will no longer enter the Green Bay Plaza shopping center. It will stop at the corner then turn onto Military and head north to Western Avenue.

The next change in this route occurs at the NWTC campus. The bus will no longer travel around campus, but it will make one stop at the student center and then head out of campus along it does currently.

After leaving NWTC, the bus will head east on West Mason to Isbell Street and enter the Wal-Mart/Sam's Club area. This will provide inbound service to this location as well as Festival Foods. After servicing Festival Foods, the route continues along Lambeau Street until it reaches Larsen Road. The bus will head east on Larsen Road completing the inbound leg on Western and Military. Upon returning to West Mason, the bus will stop in front of the Green Bay Plaza shopping center. The route will then continue downtown as it does in its current configuration.

I have included route maps in Adobe PDF format.

sound great!! but people are going to walk to the college on taylor street, and other businesses like home depot, pioneer credit union, kinder-care, and storheims or is 9 ninth bus picking is up?

A more direct route to NWTC makes sense, and actually entering Green Bay Plaza seems a waste of time. However, is it necessary pass through Walmart & Festival in both directions, leaving out the businesses along Mason Street & 41?. Also, Military & Mason is a busy intersection, and not the easiest to cross. Consideration should be given for dropping off near CUB and the new GoodWill store. How will the drop-off points be configured for the west side of Military, and north side of Mason?

I dont think it is a waste of time to got into green bay plaza. i think you should keep it for the people who have a hard time walking.

# 6 bus
I sent to two letters to Metro, expressing my concern of your eliminating three bus stops on Western. In a telephone converstaion you stated there were too many bus stops which made the bus late. Yet you have five bus stops on Taylor, not to far apart, at Storheims, Taylor Creek, Burns, Rowe and Larson Road, isn't that too many? With the elimination of going into the mall, you should be able to put the bus stops back on Western, or at least the one at 1745 Western.

this route needs to have 4 buses because some of the drivers on this route is so slow. have 1st bus leave metro at on the hour 2nd bus 15 minutes after the hour 3rd bus half hour and 45 minutes after the hour that should help for overcrowning on this route

Can I send transit the bill for me to take a cab to get my medications or for the hospital if i get hit by traffic with the way you are planning on taking out the pharmacy I am using??? I am a half fare rider and you are making it very hard for me to do anything in Green Bay!!! I am guessing I will need to STOP RIDING THE BUS AND LETTING OTHER KNOW HOW THE TRANSIT TREATS THE HALF FARE RIDERS WHO ARE ELDRELY AND DISABLED (note the words elderly and disabled )

why did you change the 6 west mason/nwtc? Last week the buses were making one stop at the student center. Now this week the buses are making two stops one stop is at health area enterance and the other one at business and information center enterance. What is next week not going into nwtc or what? The route at nwtc cut out the student center that is the main part of the school. you can cut the number of stops on Taylor because not many people get on or off the bus to two or three stops

Do you have any idea when or even if your proposed changes will take place? Do you still plan on going in the Green Bay Plaza Mall by Sears?

I picked up the newest Metro Bus Route schedule and have a few questions. Does the #6 still stop at Sears (go through the mall)? What about reestablishing the stop at 1745 Western?

I didn't attend meeting last week, will there be anything in the Press Gazette on your plans in change of service or will we experience them when we get on the bus? The current Metro Guide doesn't reflect any changes to #6 and #15.

The Transit Commission has not acted on any other route changes at this time. The current route guides, dated 5 January 2009, have the correct information for the current route offerings

Will any changes be made to the West Mason bus schedule in the future. Nothing has changed except a lot of time wasted discussing how to make the system run better.
